Who has not dream about walking above the clouds? And not in a metaphorical way. Well, let me tell you that our Planet offers this experience, yes it sounds extremely strange but it is true!

Winter can be tough, but also gifts us majestic moments like this day. As soon as I got up the day seemed to be an "indoor winter day", probably Movies, Museum or so, a big dense cloud was parked in the city, not much visibility around, I was not even able to see the clock of the Church´s tower to check the time. I took my mobile, it was 9am, I checked the weather app and oh surprise! The forecast said it was a sunny day, that means it was the perfect day to drive up to a Mountain and enjoy the sun and the breathtaking sea of fog from there!

The sea of fog or "Nebelmeer" as it is called in German, is a wonderful phenomenon that occurs during the autumn and winter season. The sea of fog is actually a cold air lake, made of millions of tiny drops of water, but as they are so small an light they float on the air and we perceive them as fog. This massive and dense cloud usually repose in a valley that is surrounded by mountains, not at a much higher altitude, giving the opportunity to be admired from a tall mountain.

Luckily we live surrounded by Mountains, of all sizes, so we did not have to go very far, 30 minutes and we were there at the foot of the Bachtel. It was still very grey, no ray of sunlight was visible but we knew that in few minutes, as we drive uphill, the spectacle was going to begin!Little by little the nebula was letting the sun rays sneaking out, the color of the surrounding was not gray anymore, a symphony of glowing colors was marching all over, what a scene! And suddenly, there we were, not figuratively, above the clouds, with the sun shinning at its best and with a jaw dropping panorama!

I could keep going and describing all the details of the sea of fog, but I guess that would be too much, so here are the photos, check them out and enjoy them as much as I do!

Thank you very much for reading and checking this post. Feel free to share it with whoever you think will like it :)
