The whole hype about Playa Balandra is real . It's one of the most amazing places I've ever seen. Located just 20 minutes north of La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

Balandra is a protected natural area and is an excellent example of how to preserve a slice of paradise. The capacity of visitors is limited, so you must wake up early to enter. We heard from locals that in high season, visitors start arriving at 6 am and by 10am no one else is allowed to enter. Luckily October belongs to the low season, so we arrived at 9:30 am, however there were already about 100 people.

The visual spectacle changes over the course of the hours and the best way to appreciate it is by going up to the viewpoint twice.
In the morning you can see the intense turquoise blue of the sea contrasting with the desert mountains, u-n-b-e-l-i-e-v-a-b-l-e!

In the afternoon, once the tide goes out, the sandbanks are almost uncovered, revealing those fascinating white stripes in the middle of the bay, m-i-n-d- b-l-o-w-i-n-g!

I think I sat there for about half an hour, trying to engrave Balandra Beach in my head!

The ancient cacti embellish the mountains of Balandra.

The mushroom rock is one of the symbols of La Paz City. A work of art of erosion and the passage of time.

Tip. If you are not a morning person, you still have the option of reaching Balandra by boat. The simplest way is to drive to Playa el Tecolote, which is just 5 minutes away from Balandra, over there you can rent a tour on a small boat to bring you to Balandra.
